Good consumer level database software. Not the powerhouse that FileMaker is, but it is not intended to be. Good tutorials and it integrates well with other Mac software.

I've been waiting for a replacement for the DB in AppleWorks for years. Although, FileMaker is a great database program, it is far more than I need for home. Bento fits my needs perfectly. It has all the features I want and much more. It is as easy to create new DB files as Appleworks with its elegant and intuitive interface. With Bento and iWork I have finally been able to replace AppleWorks and Office. My only complaint is that there is no direct way to convert old AppleWorks DB files to Bento.
A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT February 19, 2008 7 out of 25 found this review helpful
A database with no scripting language. Useless. Yes, you can add, subtract, multiply and divide...but nothing else. For all it's ease of use, so what. It is like having a spreadsheet where you cannot use formulas. Wish I had not spent the money. Apple you really disappoint on this one.
Requires Leopard February 16, 2008 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
They need to put this in the description so that someone without Leopard won't buy it. I tried the beta of this, and really liked it. I have used FileMaker, but don't really need the power for most things. I still use AppleWorks for most of my database needs. This is the first program that comes close to filling the void they left when they decided to abandon AW.
Interesting program for little jobs, not very sophisticated February 10, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
As a simple tool for setting up lists that can reference data that exist in various files (very simple relationships), Bento serves a useful function, but its report generation capabilities are very limited and can be quite frustrating. Nonetheless, given the veritable dearth of decent database software for the current Imac series, it is a welcome addition.
